Senior Software Engineer, Golang, Kubernetes - Cloud Compute Team

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.

📋 Description

• Expanding and managing the core Kubernetes infrastructure that underpins Canva's services.

• Creating and upholding automation for cluster lifecycle management, node provisioning, and onboarding of providers.

• Designing platform tools and abstractions that facilitate other Canva engineers in deploying and scaling workloads.

• Analyzing and addressing system performance and reliability challenges throughout the compute stack.

• Overseeing and enhancing the cluster addon ecosystem.

• Engaging in on-call rotations and promoting operational excellence through incident response, post-incident analysis, and preventive automation.

• Participating in technical decisions regarding architecture, tool selection, and platform strategy.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong foundational knowledge in Computer Engineering/Science related to concurrency, multithreading, data structures, architecture, and various design patterns.

• Proven experience as a Senior Software Engineer developing platform or infrastructure products in Golang.

• Significant experience in operating Kubernetes clusters in production environments at scale.

• In-depth understanding of Linux systems, including kernel, networking, performance troubleshooting, and OS image management.

• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code methodologies and GitOps workflows.

• Comprehension of cloud networking and security principles.

• Experience with observability systems and practices, including metrics, logging, and alerting.

• Methodical in debugging complex distributed systems.

• Comfortable working across multiple cloud providers and adaptable in approach.

• Familiarity with using generative AI tools within your engineering processes.
