This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead the design and implementation of intricate systems across various teams.
• Take ownership and responsibility for systems or significant components from start to finish.
• Propel technical direction and impact product decisions.
• Navigate effectively through uncertainty and establish clear pathways forward.
• Mentor fellow engineers and enhance engineering standards.
• Develop, release, and sustain features and systems that support mission-critical environments.
• Contribute to decisions regarding system design, architecture, and implementation.
• Work collaboratively with engineering, product, and design teams to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Identify and minimize ambiguity in product and technical requirements.
• Debug, optimize, and support production systems (including participation in on-call rotation).
• Integrate with existing defense systems while ensuring interoperability and compliance with security standards.
• Contribute to and support the open-source ecosystems we rely on.
• Create and maintain technical documentation (designs, runbooks, user guides).
• Participate in a shared 24x7 on-call rotation, managing incident response, troubleshooting, and coordination to ensure reliable production systems.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in software engineering.
• Proficiency in Go or other contemporary programming languages.
• Strong grasp of system design, APIs, databases, and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, etc.).
• Experience in building tools focused on the software lifecycle and delivery.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes concepts (Controllers, Operators, CRDs).
• Experience with supply chain security (SBOMs, signing, scanning, etc.).
• Background in contributing to open-source projects (CNCF, ASF, OpenSSF, etc.) is highly advantageous.
• Ability to tackle complex problems and deliver practical, scalable solutions.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.
