This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Expand and enhance Ocient’s extensive library of over 120 geospatial functions, which includes accessors, constructors, measures, predicates, spatial operators, relationships, transformations, and parsers/formatters.
• Guarantee numerical accuracy for spherical and spheroid WGS84 calculations, addressing geodesics, great-circle distance, area, antimeridian and pole handling, degenerate geometries, and precision behavior.
• Enhance spatial performance and indexing capabilities for trillion-row datasets through spatial indexing, pruning, partitioning, bounding-volume acceleration, vectorized evaluation, and planner integration.
• Advance spatiotemporal analytics, encompassing trajectory reconstruction, interpolation, movement analysis, and co-location analysis.
• Integrate geospatial functionalities with spatial clustering, geographic nearest-neighbor search, in-database machine learning, and other analytical engine interfaces.
• Convert telco, adtech, and national-security client workloads into engine functionalities in collaboration with Product and customer-facing teams.
• Create design documents, tests, and documentation to clarify spatial behavior and avert regressions.
• Oversee significant components of the geospatial engine from end to end, ensuring spherical-math accuracy and hyperscale query performance.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in developing production software systems.
• Strong background in C++ or similar systems-level programming, with a preference for primarily working in C++.
• Solid understanding of computational geometry and spherical/geodetic geometry.
• Familiarity with geospatial data, standards, or libraries such as WGS84, OGC/WKT/WKB, GEOS, S2, H3, or PostGIS.
• Proficiency in profiling, algorithmic optimization, and understanding work at scale.
• Excellent skills in numerical accuracy, edge-case testing, and documentation.
• Capability to collaborate across teams and codebases while transforming ambiguous requirements into tangible solutions.
