This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kenya.

📋 Description

• Create a precise, reliable, and quality-assured geospatial database of rice field and plot boundaries within the specified GCF Knuckles Project zones.

• Digitize individual rice fields and plot boundaries utilizing designated reference imagery and datasets.

• Generate topologically accurate and spatially precise polygon datasets.

• Adhere to ICRAF digitization protocols and standardized attribute structures.

• Ensure consistency across multiple GIS operators.

• Prepare field-level spatial data for integration with the AgriLook platform and associated applications.

• Evaluate satellite imagery, Google Earth imagery, cadastral borders, and AI-survey area layers provided by ICRAF.

• Digitize each unique field as a closed polygon in the specified GIS format.

• Fill in the necessary polygon attributes.

• Verify boundaries against ground/field survey points as assigned.

• Submit digitized polygon batches according to the established schedule.

• Amend and resubmit polygons that were rejected during the QA review at no extra cost.

• Maintain a digitization log that includes area/tile, date, and the number of polygons submitted.

• Implement digitization standards to avoid overlaps, slivers, self-intersections, and duplicates.

• Conduct automated checks for geometry, topology, CRS/format, and attribute accuracy.

• Integrate manual quality-review feedback and secure QA approval before batches are accepted and compensated.

⛳️ Requirements

• Qualified GIS digitizer.

• Proficient in digitizing rice fields and plot boundaries from high-resolution satellite imagery, basemaps, Google Earth imagery, cadastral borders, and AI-survey layers.

• Capable of producing topologically correct and spatially accurate polygon datasets.

• Familiar with standardized digitization protocols, field delineation rules, topology rules, attribute structures, and project GIS standards.

• Proficient in GIS software with experience in Shapefile, GeoJSON, and GeoPackage formats.

• Able to populate required attributes, including field ID, administrative/GN division, land-use type, source imagery date, and digitizer ID/date.

• Knowledgeable in applying the specified coordinate reference system (CRS), such as WGS84 / SL national grid.

• Skilled in performing checks for geometry validity, topology, CRS/format, and attribute completeness.

• Capable of maintaining digitization logs and submitting batches through the designated platform/folder structure.

• Able to cross-check boundaries against ground/field survey points as assigned.

• Proficient in correcting and resubmitting non-conforming polygons.

• Capable of working according to the project's minimum mapping unit and positional accuracy tolerance.

🏝️ Benefits

• Output-based payment model; batches are compensated after QA approval and acceptance.

• Corrective resubmission of rejected polygons at no additional cost prior to payment acceptance.
