Senior Software Engineer, Firefox Security

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Belgium.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, test, and deploy security and hardening features that enhance the security posture of Firefox for enterprise users.

• Contribute to and lead enhancements to Firefox’s core security posture across various operating systems by implementing privilege isolation and modifying trust boundaries.

• Advance Firefox’s core security mechanisms, including cryptographic protocols, WebPKI, and security-sensitive web APIs.

• Collaborate with teams to investigate security vulnerabilities, determine root causes, and deliver effective, maintainable solutions.

• Diagnose and resolve issues impacting stability, accuracy, performance, and memory usage within a complex, multithreaded environment.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in low-level software engineering.

• Strong expertise in C and/or C++ programming languages.

• Comprehensive understanding of security principles.

• Proven experience in diagnosing and addressing issues in multithreaded, cross-platform native applications.

• Familiarity with memory management and performance challenges.

• Knowledge of web technologies including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

• Interest or background in Rust programming.

• Capability to effectively navigate large, complex, multi-language codebases.

• Experience collaborating with distributed teams.

• Proficiency in articulating technical concepts clearly in both written and verbal communication.
