Senior Software Engineer, Financial Accounting

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Design and maintain scalable, reliable, and secure backend services utilizing Java and Go on AWS.

• Produce clean, efficient, testable, and well-documented code.

• Engage in solution design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.

• Create and implement accounting and financial processing solutions.

• Develop and enhance event-driven architectures for accounting records, balances, reconciliations, settlements, and regulatory outputs.

• Write and sustain automated tests to ensure technical functionality and financial accuracy.

• Provision and manage cloud infrastructure using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code methodologies.

• Oversee financial workflows through logs, metrics, alerts, and distributed tracing.

• Take part in code reviews.

• Collaborate with Product Managers, Accounting Specialists, Finance teams, and Engineering colleagues.

• Assist with new products, financial controls, and adherence to regulatory requirements.

• Support incident response and uphold operational excellence for critical business services.

• Engage in architectural discussions focused on scalability, resilience, performance, and platform evolution.

• Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory updates, accounting principles, and software engineering practices.

• Deliver solutions that enhance financial accuracy, operational efficiency, and platform reliability.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must reside in Brazil.

• Proficient in English at a B1 level or higher (Intermediate).

• At least 3 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's or Associate’s Degree or 5 years of relevant work experience.

• A minimum of 5 years as a Software Engineer with experience in developing and operating backend services in production settings.

• Proficient in Java and/or Go.

• Advanced skills in Git, including managing complex collaboration and version-control scenarios.

• Extensive experience in designing, building, and operating microservices architectures within cloud environments.

• Proven track record in troubleshooting and resolving issues in distributed systems.

• Strong expertise in testing methodologies, including unit, integration, performance, and end-to-end testing.

• Experience in designing and documenting APIs using OpenAPI/Swagger and other technical documentation tools.

• Proficient with AWS services such as SQS, SNS, DynamoDB, S3, EventBridge, and other cloud-native technologies.

• Experience in building event-driven architectures and asynchronous processing solutions.

• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code and deployment pipelines using Terraform, ArgoCD, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Codefresh, or similar tools.

• Advanced experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production environments.

• Strong knowledge of relational databases, data modeling, and transactional consistency.

• Understanding of distributed systems concepts, including resiliency patterns, fault tolerance, and eventual consistency.

• Familiarity with financial processing patterns such as ledger systems, reconciliation workflows, accounting events, financial balances, and auditability.

• Experience with observability practices, including monitoring, logging, tracing, alerting, and production diagnostics.

• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and GitOps principles.

• Ability to contribute to technical decisions regarding scalability, reliability, financial integrity, and regulatory compliance.
