Senior Software Engineer – DSP/Wireless Communications

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Evaluate requirements and RFCs to create effective software designs.

• Engage in shaping the future of satellite systems and associated products, focusing on software architecture, infrastructure performance, testing, and reliability.

• Document, design, develop, test, and integrate software capabilities for satellite-system components and their environments within an Agile framework.

• Collaborate on design and validation efforts with a multifunctional Scrum team comprising software, firmware, embedded, application, and test engineers.

• Diagnose and resolve technical challenges encountered during the deployment of software solutions.

• Perform additional duties as required.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, electronics and communication engineering, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

• Over 7 years of practical C/C++ software development experience.

• Proficiency in designing, implementing, debugging, and maintaining PHY-MAC control-plane software on embedded ARM/Linux or X86 platforms.

• Experience in developing and optimizing real-time signal-processing algorithms on programmable DSP processors such as CEVA, NXP, or similar architectures.

• Strong programming background in Vector C/C++, with a focus on SIMD/vectorization and DSP algorithm optimization.

• Experience in implementing fixed-point DSP and digital communications algorithms on programmable DSP platforms.

• Familiarity with development, debugging, profiling, and performance optimization tools for programmable DSP processors.

• Highly desirable experience in partitioning communications/PHY functionality among FPGA fabric, programmable DSP processors, and embedded ARM processors.

• Proven experience in integrating programmable DSP-based PHY implementations with higher-layer software, MAC/control software, FPGA interfaces, and embedded ARM processors within a complete modem or wireless communications system.

• Knowledge of 5G NR/5G NTN MAC and PHY-MAC interactions.

• Experience addressing real-time embedded challenges related to threading, optimization, memory management, and interrupt handling in multi-core/multi-CPU environments.

• Understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP) and sockets programming.

• Familiarity with 3GPP standards and 5G architecture is preferred.

• Experience with cloud technologies (AWS/Azure) is an asset.

• Strong problem-solving, communication, presentation, documentation, and writing abilities.

• Self-driven with potential for technical leadership and a track record of success in a structured development environment.

• Ability to collaboratively drive technical solutions.

• Strong software design capabilities, including Object-Oriented Design and Object-Oriented Programming techniques.

• Experience in creating quality and maintainable software.

• Technical leadership and mentoring experience.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced development environment.

• Working knowledge of UML is highly desirable.

• Familiarity with professional software engineering practices across the complete software development life cycle.

• Desired experience or knowledge in satellite/terrestrial communications systems.

• Practical experience with GDB and Valgrind.

• Strongly desired experience with version control systems such as git.

• Experience with Jira and Jenkins is preferred.

• Experience in developing unit, integration, and functional tests, including test automation in a CI/CD pipeline, is desirable.

• Proficiency in shell scripting or Python is preferred.

• May be required to provide information for export-license, governmental authorization, security clearance, or other regulatory assessments.
