Senior Software Engineer – Distributed Systems

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Malaysia.

📋 Description

• Architect, develop, and enhance robust backend services and APIs that support Toku's cloud communications platform.

• Create and implement scalable distributed systems and microservices.

• Construct and advance event-driven systems utilizing technologies like Kafka or RabbitMQ.

• Develop backend integrations that connect Toku's platform with external communication providers.

• Build and manage backend services on AWS while adhering to modern cloud-native engineering principles.

• Contribute to the technical direction and enhance the architecture of backend systems.

• Take ownership of backend systems in production, focusing on monitoring and ongoing operational improvements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive hands-on experience in designing, building, and managing production backend systems.

• Significant practical experience in developing production backend services using Go.

• Experience in designing or managing distributed systems, microservices, and backend architectures.

• Practical knowledge of technologies such as Kafka, AWS SQS, RabbitMQ, or similar messaging platforms.

• Proven experience in designing, building, and integrating production APIs and backend services.

• Strong fundamentals in cloud engineering; experience with AWS is preferred.

• Strong SQL expertise, including schema design, query optimization, and production data management.

• Experience in operating production systems, including monitoring, troubleshooting, incident response, performance optimization, and continuous reliability improvements.

• Proven ability to enhance existing systems, influence technical direction, and proactively address engineering challenges.
