Senior Software Engineer, DevOps

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and sustain infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform using Terraform.

• Establish infrastructure patterns and standards.

• Manage and enhance GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines.

• Recognize and reduce operational toil through scalable automation and tools.

• Set up monitoring, dashboards, and alerting in Datadog, minimizing alert noise.

• Lead incident response as part of the on-call rotation and facilitate postmortems and follow-up actions.

• Define and monitor Service Level Objectives for core infrastructure and build systems.

• Collaborate with product engineering teams regarding deployment pipelines, environmental challenges, and build troubleshooting.

• Oversee preview and staging environments, including data synchronization, masking, and cleanup processes.

• Enhance developer experience through improved tooling, runbooks, and documentation.

• Produce thoroughly tested and reviewed infrastructure code.

• Lead design reviews and Request for Comments (RFCs) with an operations-centric approach.

• Create systems that balance reliability, performance, and security.

• Conduct code reviews and mentor engineers through pairing, knowledge sharing, and documentation.

• Collaborate with the Tech Lead, DevOps, Platform, Data Engineering, Clinical Experience, Member Experience, and Care Delivery teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• Approximately 5+ years of professional experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), infrastructure, or backend engineering within production environments.

• Practical experience in designing and managing infrastructure on at least one cloud provider, preferably Google Cloud Platform.

• Proven track record of owning and delivering automation, pipelines, or infrastructure that significantly enhanced team productivity or reliability.

• A passion for developer productivity and maximizing team impact.

• Extensive experience with infrastructure-as-code, particularly Terraform, and constructing CI/CD pipelines, especially with GitHub Actions.

• Strong software engineering skills and a solid command of Linux.

• Excellent instincts for monitoring and observability, with the ability to debug confidently across logs, traces, and metrics.

• Solid experience with relational databases, including MySQL and PostgreSQL, and containerized workloads.

• A strong foundation in reliability, performance, and security principles, with sound judgment for making trade-offs.

• Nice to have: experience in healthcare, digital health, or regulated domains such as HIPAA, PHI, and SOC 2.

• Nice to have: familiarity with containers and orchestration, including Docker and Kubernetes.

• Nice to have: exposure to leading incident response, on-call duties, and postmortem practices.

• Nice to have: experience with database migrations or managing multiple environments at scale.
