Senior Software Engineer, Developer Infrastructure

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and manage essential developer-infrastructure services, encompassing CI and build systems, deployment orchestration, and testing infrastructure that are inherently fast, reliable, and secure at the scale of Coinbase.

• Drive tangible enhancements to metrics that every engineer experiences: build and CI wall time, deployment speed and safety, as well as test feedback time and flakiness.

• Take full ownership of your services from start to finish, including SLOs, observability, and on-call responsibilities.

• Collaborate closely with engineering teams throughout Coinbase (your clients) to identify pain points and transform them into platform enhancements.

• Lead the technical design of ambitious, cross-functional projects and oversee their progression to production.

• Serve as a force multiplier by mentoring engineers and influencing the technical direction of the platform.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in building and operating production software, with a solid foundation in distributed systems and proficiency in a primary programming language such as Go (or equivalent).

• A proven history of delivering high-impact backend or platform systems relied upon by other engineers or services, demonstrating strong ownership from design through to production.

• Strong operational instincts: you prioritize reliability, security, and observability, and you design with production in mind from day one.

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to independently drive projects while collaborating effectively across teams.

• A customer-centric approach: your measure of success is determined by the impact your systems have on fellow engineers.
