Senior Software Engineer – Data Services

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and scale backend data services and APIs that support high-throughput, low-latency workloads.

• Architect and enhance microservices, focusing on service boundaries, communication patterns, and failure isolation.

• Create distributed systems that ensure scalability, fault tolerance, consistency, and reliability across various regions.

• Optimize and manage PostgreSQL and Oracle relational database systems, including schemas, indexing strategies, and high-availability configurations.

• Construct and oversee high-volume, high-velocity data pipelines while taking full ownership of services from start to finish.

• Analyze and resolve intricate performance, scalability, and reliability challenges.

• Provide mentorship to engineers regarding system design.

• Clarify project requirements and drive execution effectively.

• Ensure collaboration with DBA and SRE teams while engaging in hands-on technical development.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8 years of relevant professional experience.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or an equivalent qualification.

• Proficiency in Python, Java, or Go.

• Capability to write production-quality, maintainable backend code.

• Extensive knowledge of PostgreSQL and relational database systems.

• Experience with schema design, query optimization, and high-availability setups.

• Proven experience in designing, building, and scaling microservices architectures in production settings.

• Familiarity with DBA responsibilities.

• Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and complexity analysis.

• Knowledge of RESTful APIs, containerization, orchestration, CI/CD pipelines, and major cloud platforms.
