This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and REST APIs that deliver data from various SQL subsystems and additional data sources.
• Create well-tested, production-ready Python services featuring clean API contracts, appropriate authentication, versioning, and error management.
• Collaborate closely with the Analytics Engineering team to provide modeled data (billing, settlement, finance) through APIs that downstream users can depend on.
• Develop internal tools and services that empower the wider organization to independently meet their data needs without the need for SQL.
• Engage in code reviews, system design discussions, and promote engineering best practices throughout the Infrastructure organization.
• Enhance service observability by implementing logging, metrics, alerting, and on-call protocols for the services you oversee.
• Maintain and optimize existing data pipelines that transfer data from source systems into Snowflake (using Airflow, Airbyte).
• Collaborate on the dbt project with the Analytics Engineering team to improve models, test coverage, and ensure data quality.
• Uphold data governance practices, including access controls, lineage documentation, and data quality standards.
• Strong expertise in Python with experience in building backend services and REST APIs.
• Familiarity with web frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, Django, or comparable technologies.
• Proficient SQL skills and practical experience with contemporary cloud data warehouses (Snowflake is highly preferred).
• Experience in designing and developing production APIs with appropriate authentication, versioning, and error handling.
• Knowledge of CI/CD, automated testing, and operational reliability methodologies.
• Proven history of delivering reliable, well-tested services in production settings.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity and propel projects forward with minimal supervision.
• Experience in data pipeline development using tools such as Airflow, Airbyte, Dagster, or equivalent.
• Familiarity with dbt or similar data transformation frameworks.
• Background in fintech, payments, or other financial services sectors.
• Acquainted with AWS services (Lambda, S3, RDS, API Gateway, ECS/Fargate).
• Experience with Kafka or event streaming.
• Proficient in infrastructure-as-code methodologies (Terraform, Pulumi).
• Experience at a company with high transaction volumes where accuracy and reliability are critical.
