Senior Software Engineer, Data Focused

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Assist in the maintenance and support of data ingestion pipelines, utilizing connectors to extract data from NHS systems, practice management systems, and laboratory or equipment sources through APIs and screen-scraping.

• Take ownership of the BigQuery ingestion layer as well as the downstream SQL Server and SQL Azure processing that calculates dentist compensation.

• Actively identify, investigate, and resolve data ingestion challenges while enhancing platform observability and monitoring capabilities.

• Manage enterprise customer support inquiries and tactical enhancement requests for the current platform.

• Collaborate within a highly distributed, brownfield, and heavily customized environment that supports multiple tailored customer deployments.

• Review and, when necessary, modify SQL-driven commands utilized by the legacy on-premises Delphi connector.

• Contribute to tactical process improvements, including the implementation of source control via GitHub Enterprise and the enhancement of CI/CD practices using Azure DevOps.

• Conduct light maintenance on the existing .NET web application.

• Diagnose and resolve complex issues involving stored procedures, Common Table Expressions (CTEs), SQL Server business logic, and distributed systems.

• Independently address ambiguous production issues while collaborating within a Kanban team.

• Aid in enhancing SDLC controls and engineering processes in an environment where production changes currently occur without CI/CD safeguards.

• Implement careful production changes while promptly responding to live customer issues.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in data engineering, focusing on data pipelines and ingestion, preferably with GCP BigQuery, Airflow, and Cloud Composer; significant experience with large-scale data pipelines on alternate cloud platforms may also be acceptable.

• More than 5 years of experience with SQL Server and T-SQL, including stored procedures, Common Table Expressions (CTEs), and database-implemented business logic.

• At least 2 years of experience with GCP tools, particularly BigQuery, Airflow, and Cloud Composer; Azure Data Factory or a similar data integration platform may be considered as a substitute.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience with Azure technologies, including SQL Azure, Azure Functions, and Azure DevOps; equivalent experience with AWS or GCP hosting may also be recognized.
