Senior Software Engineer – Data Acquisition

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +5 more states.

📋 Description

• Develop and sustain high-performance data acquisition pipelines that work seamlessly with various systems across WEX and third-party vendors.

• Play a key role in creating a modular ingestion platform that promotes reusability, reliability, and observability at scale.

• Implement essential pipeline components such as schema validation, transformation orchestration, error management, and audit logging.

• Facilitate both batch and streaming ingestion flows, ensuring the platform accommodates diverse latency and volume requirements across different business units.

• Guarantee traceability, lineage, and security by integrating with control plane and governance systems.

• Engage in code reviews, design discussions, and incident resolution activities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline; a Master’s degree is advantageous but not mandatory.

• Over 4 years of experience as a software engineer, preferably in high-volume or distributed systems environments.

• Proficient programming skills in Python, Java, Scala, or another systems-oriented language.

• Experience in data integration and ingestion pipelines.

• Strong understanding of engineering principles, including version control, modular design, testing, and performance optimization.

• Skilled in utilizing AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude Dev).

• Comprehensive knowledge of specification-driven development.

• Capability to author and maintain thorough technical specifications.

• Ability to create complex, context-rich prompts.

• Familiarity with concepts such as schema evolution, event-driven architectures, observability, and role-based access control.
