This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.
β’ Lead the design and execution of backend services and platform functionalities that facilitate large-scale, data-intensive applications.
β’ Take ownership of projects from the initial technical design all the way through implementation, testing, deployment, and ensuring ongoing reliability.
β’ Collaborate with product, data science, and clinical teams to transform complex requirements into straightforward, robust solutions.
β’ Design and develop scalable backend systems that collect, process, and deliver high-volume health data.
β’ Spearhead technical initiatives aimed at enhancing data reliability, observability, and overall system performance.
β’ Influence architectural decisions related to integrations with third-party data sources and APIs.
β’ Enhance system resilience and data quality, ensuring accuracy in clinically significant workflows.
β’ Mentor engineers and uplift engineering standards through design reviews, testing practices, and operational excellence.
β’ Contribute to roadmap planning by breaking down ambiguous challenges into clear, actionable engineering tasks.
β’ Over 7 years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong emphasis on backend development using modern frameworks (Ruby on Rails, Python).
β’ Proficient in working with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL).
β’ Experienced in designing and managing distributed systems that require high reliability and data integrity.
β’ Familiar with data pipelines, event-driven architectures, or real-time processing systems.
β’ Highly value reliability, testing, and documentation, considering them essential components of engineering rather than mere afterthoughts.
β’ Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating business and clinical requirements into technical strategies.
β’ Comfortable collaborating across functions and navigating uncertainty in a dynamic work environment.
