Senior Software Engineer, Core Systems

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Develop and sustain onboard C++ software and essential system libraries.

• Construct scalable, low-latency infrastructure in C++ and Python for machine learning workloads.

• Design cloud-based systems for data storage and GPU task scheduling.

• Create simulation and evaluation pipelines, which include synthetic agents, rendering tools, and scenario suites.

• Establish evaluation criteria and internal tools to assess and compare software release builds.

• Refactor existing codebases to remove anti-patterns and enhance system architecture.

• Develop data pipelines for sensor calibration and 3D reconstruction processes.

• Implement automated testing and validation frameworks across subsystem engineering teams.

• Collaborate with engineers in the fields of autonomy, AI, and national security.

• Contribute to defining the startup culture and processes while designing future defense systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in C++ or Python for core systems, simulation, evaluation, and tooling tasks.

• Proven experience in navigating, auditing, and refactoring extensive codebases.

• History of developing shared software frameworks or foundational libraries.

• Capability to write, debug, and articulate complex code independently without reliance on AI tools.

• Must be a U.S. Person due to necessary access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities.

• Strong interest in the defense of the United States and its allies.

• May be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Top Secret security clearance.

• Experience with cloud and infrastructure, including GPU task scheduling and service deployment (preferred).

• Background in simulation or evaluations (preferred).

• Experience in calibration or 3D reconstruction (preferred).

• Familiarity with edge or embedded hardware (preferred).
