Senior Software Engineer, Convert – Backend/Infra

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Argentina.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and manage distributed backend systems for the recommendations pipeline and AI workflow execution engine.

• Take ownership of and enhance AWS and Kubernetes infrastructure for the AI workflow platform.

• Enhance reliability, observability, scalability, and failure recovery of the systems.

• Fortify eventing, streaming, retries, backpressure, and recovery mechanisms.

• Mitigate infrastructure single points of failure and share operational and on-call responsibilities.

• Define service and API boundaries effectively.

• Author and refine MongoDB data models and queries.

• Utilize AI tools to create dependable systems based on LLM-supported components.

• Collaborate with product engineers, PMs, and designers to deliver end-to-end solutions.

• Enhance the quality of tested, observable, maintainable code and design documentation.

• Guide engineers on backend and reliability practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• BA/BS degree or equivalent experience is required.

• Proficient in English for reading, writing, and speaking at a business level.

• 5+ years of experience in building and operating backend systems in a production environment.

• Experience with scalable, multi-tenant SaaS is highly preferred.

• In-depth knowledge of distributed systems, including concurrency, asynchronous processing, eventually consistent processing, queues or streaming, and failure-oriented design.

• Strong skills in Python and/or TypeScript/Node.js.

• Experience in data modeling with MongoDB or a similar database.

• Practical experience with AWS, containers, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and observability tools.

• A strong commitment to testing, documentation, and reliability.

• Ability to articulate technical and business trade-offs effectively.

• Comfortable with ambiguity and skilled in collaborative solution scoping.

• Experience or interest in mentoring less experienced engineers.

• Proactive in adopting and applying AI and emerging technologies.

• Experience with workflow/orchestration engines, LLM-supported systems, and service reliability is a plus.
