Senior Software Engineer, Consumer Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with Product Management, Product Design, Data Science, and iOS/Android/Web client engineers to convert business and user requirements into dependable, low-latency technical solutions.

• Take ownership of the entire software lifecycle for significant product initiatives, encompassing technical design documents and API agreements through development, testing, deployment, and monitoring.

• Create, develop, and assess A/B experiments.

• Examine user behavior, conversion funnels, and retention loops using tools such as BigQuery, HEX, or Firebase.

• Develop and sustain scalable APIs and distributed backend services that are optimized for client usage and consumer UI performance.

• Establish engineering best practices and enhance developer workflows.

• Guide teammates and leverage modern AI-integrated tools to deliver high-quality products efficiently.

• Develop and expand Reddit products for content discovery, community participation, and connection with others.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of practical backend development experience.

• Experience in building and managing large-scale distributed serving systems in high-concurrency settings.

• Proficiency in modern backend programming languages such as Go or Python, or Java, Kotlin, Rust, or C++.

• Expertise in designing and maintaining scalable APIs utilizing GraphQL, REST, or gRPC.

• Experience or interest in utilizing AI-assisted engineering tools.

• Ability to design experiments and set essential performance metrics.

• User-centric approach with a solid understanding of product usability, interaction design, social dynamics, and user growth loops.

• Exceptional communication abilities and a proven history of fostering cross-functional alignment.

• Self-motivated and adept at navigating uncertainty in fast-paced product environments.
