This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.
• You will take charge of an integration from start to finish: designing, coding, and maintaining the production system post-launch.
• Responsible for the architecture: managing authentication and identity flows, multi-tenancy, data movement and storage permissions, performance considerations, and production outcomes.
• You will operate what you create. From the beginning, you will be on-call for your own work prior to establishing a dedicated platform, which entails managing the infrastructure, CI, deployment, and observability.
• Working with external platforms that you cannot modify, you will transparently manage the risks that are yours and those that are not.
• Collaborating closely with internal teams whose services you rely on: clearly communicating needs, agreeing on interfaces, and finding ways to progress rather than waiting to be unblocked.
• We also expect you to have insights on future directions and document them. Much of what influences the team's trajectory begins as written proposals.
• Over 5 years of software development experience, particularly in data-intensive or integration-focused systems.
• Strong backend and systems intuition. You can analyze deployment topologies, multi-tenancy, and data flow, and you are comfortable making architectural trade-offs with long-term implications.
• Experience with modern authentication protocols, service principals, and identity federation, along with the ability to implement them correctly across trust boundaries.
• Familiarity with operating on third-party platforms, understanding the challenges such as incomplete documentation and unexpected breaking changes.
• Comfortable navigating ambiguity. You can deliver before specifications are finalized, make informed decisions amidst uncertainty, and identify decisions that could be challenging to reverse.
• Excellent collaboration skills with other engineers. Much of the work involves teams you do not control, and you build their trust through your thought process, not just your code contributions.
• Primarily a backend engineer, but proficient enough in JavaScript/TypeScript to contribute when necessary.
• Proficient in utilizing AI tools effectively and transparently. Use tools like Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or any others that assist you, and be open about where you've leveraged them.
• Strong writing skills. Most coordination occurs through design documents, PRs, and RFCs.
• Flexible work environment - ClickHouse operates as a globally distributed and remote-friendly company, currently active in over 20 countries.
• Healthcare - Employer contributions towards healthcare coverage.
• Company equity - Every new team member receives stock options.
• Time off - Flexible time-off policies in the US, with generous entitlements in other countries.
• $500 home office setup for remote employees.
• Global Gatherings – We value in-person connections and provide opportunities for engagement with colleagues at company-wide offsites.
