• Develop and sustain the core framework and essential software components for the Kraken trading engine, emphasizing the Aeron-based messaging transport layer.
• Design and execute low-latency, high-availability messaging solutions across unicast, multicast, and IPC transport methods.
• Optimize and profile the entire system stack — including CPU pinning, NUMA topology, kernel bypass, and receive buffer sizing — to minimize latency in production infrastructure.
• Construct and enhance Aeron Archive integrations for reliable message replay and stream persistence.
• Create and design solutions that reduce risk, enforce security measures, and safeguard both systems and data.
• Develop reusable, testable, and efficient code.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and support the achievement of the product roadmap.
• Engage collaboratively with a distributed team, utilizing interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and interact with stakeholders.
• Over 5 years of experience with modern C++.
• Previous experience in at least one of the following areas using Linux — distributed and/or highly-concurrent systems; low-latency and/or high-volume transaction environments.
• In-depth understanding of the fundamentals of low-latency systems: lock-free data structures, mechanical sympathy, cache-line discipline, and the trade-offs between busy-spin and park/wake.
• Experience with Aeron or similar messaging transports (e.g., Chronicle Queue, ZeroMQ, LMAX Disruptor) is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with UDP networking, multicast, and kernel-bypass techniques (e.g., DPDK, RDMA) is a significant advantage.
• Knowledge of SBE (Simple Binary Encoding) or comparable zero-copy serialization formats is a plus.
• Experience in profiling and optimizing code (CPU, memory, network) using tools like perf, flame graphs, VTune, or equivalent.
• A high level of proficiency in Python, Rust, and SQL is strongly preferred.
• Proven knowledge of order types, trading systems, and financial products is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with cryptocurrency and blockchain technologies is highly preferable.
• A Bachelor's degree in a technical or quantitative field.
• Contributing to the Future of Open Finance.
• A proactive approach with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines.
• Collaboration with cross-functional teams and participation in achieving the product roadmap.
• Opportunities for professional development.
