Senior Software Engineer, Backend – Loan Origination and Reporting

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and expand data platforms and services that process loan originations in real-time.

• Provide precise reporting to Affirm and its financial partners.

• Take ownership of and achieve quarterly team objectives.

• Guide engineers through complex and ambiguous challenges.

• Work collaboratively with product management, design, and analytics during the ideation and decision-making phases.

• Identify and lead the resolution of project, process, technology, and business challenges.

• Establish and monitor operational metrics.

• Raise issues and assist with on-call and operational tasks.

• Set and enhance code review and design standards.

• Champion engineering standards through writing and technical presentations.

• Offer constructive feedback and mentorship to foster team talent.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 4 years of experience in designing, developing, and launching scalable backend systems.

• Proficient in languages such as Python or Kotlin.

• Proven history of developing highly available distributed systems.

• Experience with AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.

• In-depth knowledge of designing and managing scalable backend data pipelines and batch processing systems.

• Familiarity with Spark, Airflow, or comparable distributed frameworks.

• Experience in defining technical plans for major features or system components.

• Ability to write high-quality, clear, and maintainable code.

• Skilled at making substantial modifications in a large codebase safely.

• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

• Equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
