This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +3 more states.
• Conduct research, develop, and maintain software applications that are mission-focused, including backend services, APIs, data processing workflows, and analytical tools.
• Design and enhance software applications.
• Manage and upgrade existing custom applications.
• Diagnose and resolve defects while enhancing performance.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to technical documentation.
• Provide dependable capabilities in an agile, remote-first work environment.
• Work collaboratively with software engineers, data scientists, analysts, and customer stakeholders.
• Assist mission partners by converting complex data into actionable insights.
• Facilitate technical discussions, mentor technical personnel, and lead technical design and engineering initiatives.
• Contribute to research and development efforts and create production-capable systems.
• Gather and interpret government stakeholder requirements into actionable goals, objectives, and tasks.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Hold a current Top Secret security clearance and/or CBP/DHS suitability.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, software engineering, or a related field; 4 additional years of experience may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
• Over 6 years of professional experience in programming, design, and/or development.
• Professional proficiency in one or more strongly typed programming languages, such as Java, Rust, or similar.
• Professional experience with one or more scripting languages, including Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, or similar.
• Willingness to lead technical discussions, mentor technical staff, and drive design and engineering efforts.
• Familiarity with agile software development practices and tools like Jira, Confluence, and Git.
• Willingness to work remotely or at a nearby Vantor facility and communicate via video conferencing.
• Experience in backend development utilizing Java and Rust.
• Knowledge of low-latency, streaming, or event-driven data processing technologies like Apache Flink and/or Apache Kafka.
• Experience in applying traditional AI/ML methodologies to streaming data.
• Full-stack development experience with React, Next, Leaflet, MapLibre, and Redux.
• Experience in developing and maintaining REST API frameworks.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or OpenStack.
• Experience with containerized deployments using Kubernetes and Docker.
• Proficiency in CI/CD tools and workflows such as Jenkins, ArgoCD, Harness, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions.
• Experience with SQL database development, schema design, query optimization, or data modeling using technologies like PostgreSQL or Apache Iceberg.
• Background in supporting research and development projects, including the development of production-capable systems from the ground up.
• Proven experience in leading technical initiatives for cross-disciplinary teams.
• Skilled in extracting and translating requirements from government stakeholders.
• Strong verbal, written, documentation, and organizational skills.
