Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assume responsibility for technically intricate and mission-critical domains

• Establish and steer the technical strategy for new products and platform functionalities

• Create and deploy full-stack features across backend, frontend, and possibly mobile

• Deliver AI-powered solutions addressing real operational challenges

• Collaborate with product, design, and customer-facing teams to translate ambiguous issues into technical roadmaps and measurable results

• Build and enhance systems behind AI-driven products, including data ingestion, APIs, and operator workflows

• Conduct code and design reviews

• Mentor engineers and set benchmarks for quality, speed, and craftsmanship

• Engage in customer interviews and work alongside product managers and customer success

• Advocate for and integrate Samsara’s cultural principles while scaling globally and across new offices

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience

• Over 8 years of experience in software design and development, including the construction and operation of production systems at scale

• Strong foundational knowledge in full-stack development across backend services, APIs, and frontend (web or mobile)

• Proficient in Go, Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, React, or similar contemporary programming languages and frameworks

• Experience leading projects across teams or organizations from conception to implementation

• Background in developing AI-powered or data-driven products

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders

• Proven track record of creating zero-to-one products, enhancing systems, or addressing complex issues

• Experience delivering AI-powered features in production environments

• Comfortable with AI-augmented development workflows including Cursor and LLMs

• Background in handling real-world operational data or a strong willingness to learn the domain

• Proven history of mentoring senior engineers and shaping engineering culture, standards, and best practices beyond a single team

• Involvement in side projects, open-source contributions, or other indicators of curiosity and initiative are a plus
