Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of technically intricate, mission-critical domains.

• Establish and steer the technical strategy for new products and platform functionalities.

• Design and implement full-stack features across backend, frontend, and possibly mobile platforms.

• Develop AI-driven products that address genuine operational challenges.

• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and customer-facing teams to convert vague issues into technical plans and quantifiable results.

• Construct and expand systems that support AI-driven products, including data ingestion, APIs, and operator workflows.

• Perform code reviews and design evaluations.

• Guide engineers and establish standards for quality, speed, and craftsmanship.

• Advocate for Samsara’s cultural values while expanding globally and into new offices.

• Engage in customer interviews and work alongside product managers and customer success teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a comparable practical experience.

• Over 8 years of experience in software design and development, including the construction and operation of production systems at scale.

• Solid full-stack knowledge encompassing backend services, APIs, and frontend (web or mobile) technologies.

• Proficient in Go, Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, React, or similar contemporary languages and frameworks.

• Proven experience in leading cross-team or cross-organizational projects from conception to rollout.

• Experience in creating AI-driven or data-centric products.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• A history of developing zero-to-one products or significantly enhancing existing systems.

• Experience in deploying AI-powered features in a production environment (preferred).

• Familiarity with AI-enhanced development workflows such as Cursor and LLMs (preferred).

• Background in handling operational data such as telematics, sensor data, work orders, or inspections (preferred).

• Proven ability to mentor senior engineers and shape engineering culture (preferred).

• Involvement in side projects or contributions to open-source initiatives (preferred).

• Capability to secure and maintain the legal right to work for the company in the designated work location.
