Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Design, construct, and implement intricate, high-impact features for the merchant platform, overseeing the process from initial requirements to testing, documentation, and deployment.

• Collaborate with the Product team to clarify ambiguities and outline scope and requirements.

• Lead discussions on solution design and architect scalable systems.

• Produce clear technical documentation and make practical, reliability-focused decisions.

• Advocate for SRE standards concerning code quality, testing, and supportability.

• Conduct code reviews and offer constructive feedback.

• Triage and troubleshoot complex issues.

• Participate in the team’s on-call rotation.

• Mentor and foster the development of fellow engineers.

• Communicate asynchronously via GitHub, Slack, and Google Workspace.

• Create systems that enhance merchant onboarding, management, retention, and user experience.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of professional software engineering experience.

• Extensive experience in designing, building, and operating scalable distributed services.

• Proficient in designing for reliability, performance, and availability.

• Comfortable working with Go programming language.

• Familiarity with Kubernetes and contemporary infrastructure.

• Experience in containerized, cloud-based environments.

• Background in financial systems or fintech, or a strong understanding of payment flows.

• Knowledge of regulated, high-stakes environments.

• Experience throughout the complete software lifecycle, including design, implementation, deployment, monitoring, and iteration.

• Business acumen and insight into customer product usage.

• Ability to balance speed, quality, and complexity in ambiguous situations.

• Capability to quantify impact, use data to inform decisions, and assess outcomes.

• Competence in working collaboratively, taking initiative, and functioning effectively in an asynchronous remote culture.
