Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support production features across the complete technology stack, which includes React and TypeScript, Node.js and Express APIs, PostgreSQL, a Rust network-proxy layer, and the AchieveDXP content-integration framework.

• Take ownership of significant platform components and technical initiatives from architecture and design through to implementation, deployment, monitoring, reliability, and ongoing enhancement.

• Create and operationalize AI-enabled functionalities, encompassing large language model features, agentic workflows, retrieval-augmented generation, evaluations, model selection, guardrails, and secure data-handling practices.

• Ensure secure and reliable services for multi-tenant, per-facility deployments in Azure Kubernetes environments utilizing Helm, Terraform, ArgoCD, containers, and CI/CD pipelines.

• Contribute to architectural decisions, engineering standards, code reviews, testing methodologies, technical documentation, and platform risk mitigation.

• Collaborate with product, implementation, customer-facing, and engineering stakeholders to clarify requirements, discuss technical tradeoffs, and provide solutions that meet user and business demands.

• Engage in redesigning and scaling AchieveDXP for increased usage and expansion into adult education and workforce development initiatives.

• Mentor engineers, disseminate technical knowledge, and foster a distributed, high-trust engineering culture.

• Execute other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of six years of professional experience in building and supporting production software, with significant full-stack development responsibility.

• Proven experience in independently managing complex or ambiguous technical challenges from definition through to production delivery.

• Demonstrated experience in delivering AI or large language model capabilities to production, including work with agents, retrieval-augmented generation, evaluations, and practical model selection.

• Advanced proficiency in TypeScript, JavaScript, React, Node.js, relational database design, API design, and PostgreSQL.

• Familiarity with cloud-native development and operations, including containers, Kubernetes, and CI/CD practices.

• Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts and tradeoffs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Capability to work well with customers and internal partners in a distributed work environment.

• Must be located in and authorized to work in the United States.

• Preferred: Experience with Rust, Tokio, or Actix, or a demonstrated ability and willingness to learn Rust.

• Preferred: Background in browser automation, browser extensions, Manifest V3, proxy technologies, or network filtering.

• Preferred: Experience collaborating with distributed or India-based engineering teams.

• Preferred: Exposure to education technology or secure, regulated, restricted, or air-gapped environments.

• Preferred: Experience in mentoring engineers or taking on technical leadership roles.
