Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and maintain enterprise applications utilized by Department of Defense/Department of War personnel for program and financial management.

• Take ownership of application capabilities, overseeing everything from requirements analysis to solution design, API development, implementation, testing, deployment, verification, and sustainment.

• Leverage AI development tools for coding, testing, schema modifications, documentation, and deployment while ensuring accountability for quality, security, and maintainability.

• Design tables, keys, constraints, and indexes; adapt database schemas as requirements evolve.

• Write SQL queries directly against Oracle and evaluate the implications on database execution and performance.

• Contribute to front-end development using Angular.

• Manage changes throughout the build process, including security scanning, testing, deployment, and verification pipelines.

• Produce clean, thoroughly tested code and articulate technical approaches during peer reviews.

• Provide detailed and constructive feedback during code reviews.

• Investigate defects to determine root causes.

• Engage in architecture and design discussions, advocating for technically sound solutions.

• Maintain and enhance existing capabilities, modernize underlying technologies, and create new functionalities.

• Assess current solutions for potential improvements, refactoring, replacement, or retention.

• Some travel may be necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• Seven or more years of professional software development experience.

• Significant hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot.

• A minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in data science, computer science, software engineering, information systems, mathematics, or a closely related technical field.

• Eleven or more years of relevant technical training or professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

• Expertise in relational databases, including schema design and complex SQL.

• Familiarity with a modern front-end framework such as Angular or React.

• Experience delivering software through CI/CD processes in a cloud environment using a mainstream toolchain.

• Recent hands-on experience with Java LTS release 21 or 25.

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.

• Capability to sit, type, hear, see, and speak for prolonged periods.

• Proficient in conveying accurate information and ideas effectively.

• Ability to lift and carry at least 15 lbs.

• U.S. citizenship is mandatory.

• Completion of an approximately 60-minute technical assessment is required.

• Must be willing to work additional hours and/or weekends as needed.

• Relocation expenses are not covered.
