Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Conduct research, design, implement, test, and launch features for SpiceDB and AuthZed open-source initiatives.

• Propel software development, testing, and CI/CD best practices.

• Take ownership of tasks from development and deployment to production operations.

• Participate in the on-call rotation.

• Diagnose issues related to correctness, stability, and performance within distributed systems.

• Work collaboratively with users and contributors, review submissions, and engage in technical discussions.

• Advance open-source projects and APIs.

• Recognize chances to enhance processes and optimize operations.

• Partner with engineering, product, and support teams.

• Provide mentorship to colleagues.

• Create technical documentation, articles, and presentations representing AuthZed.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

• Over 5 years of experience in programming languages such as Golang, Python, or Java.

• Robust systems engineering background, covering distributed systems, operating systems, or databases.

• Proven experience in developing and troubleshooting complex production systems where accuracy, reliability, and performance are crucial.

• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and managing distributed databases in cloud-native settings.

• Proficient in CI/CD, Docker, and Git.

• Exceptional communication skills with the capacity to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Ability to excel in remote-first teams across different time zones.

• Experience in building Kubernetes controllers or operators.

• Knowledge of database concepts, including compilers, indices, query planning, optimization, and materialized views.

• Understanding of modern authorization systems and access control frameworks.

• Legal eligibility to work in the U.S. or Canada.

• Willingness to travel biannually for company offsite events.
