Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Design and enhance infrastructure capable of managing billions of documents and processing hundreds of queries every second.

• Lead the transition from legacy systems to contemporary architecture, guaranteeing no downtime and enhanced performance.

• Develop thorough monitoring, testing, and deployment procedures that identify issues before they reach customers.

• Analyze and optimize systems from the infrastructure level to the application level, achieving a balance between cost and performance.

• Take ownership of a vital search platform that influences how customers uncover insights.

• Create the next generation of scalable information retrieval utilizing modern technologies, including hybrid lexical/vector search.

• Shift search infrastructure from a reactive stance to a proactive one, minimizing latency, completing a significant platform migration, and constructing systems that grow alongside the company.

• Implement engineering standards that avert customer-related issues.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in building and managing distributed systems in a production environment.

• Proficiency in large-scale data platforms or high-throughput systems.

• In-depth knowledge of distributed systems principles: sharding, replication, consistency, and partition tolerance.

• Strong skills in performance optimization, including profiling, diagnosing, and resolving bottlenecks throughout the stack.

• Experience with data pipeline architecture, real-time processing, or database internals.

• Excellence in creating observable systems with extensive monitoring and alerting capabilities.

• Preferred: Familiarity with search platforms (Vespa, Elasticsearch, Solr) or comparable large-scale data systems.

• Preferred: Experience with Kubernetes, CRDs, and infrastructure as code practices.

• Preferred: Background in information retrieval, ranking systems, or recommendation engines.

• Preferred: Understanding of hybrid search methodologies (lexical and vector).

• Preferred: Experience with JVM-based systems and performance tuning.

• Preferred: Knowledge of modern engineering practices from rapidly growing companies.
