Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Design and enhance infrastructure capable of managing billions of documents and processing hundreds of queries every second.

• Lead the transition from outdated systems to contemporary architecture while guaranteeing zero downtime and enhanced performance.

• Implement monitoring, testing, and deployment methodologies that detect issues prior to customer awareness.

• Analyze and optimize systems from the infrastructure level to application level, balancing costs with performance.

• Take ownership of the search platform that drives market intelligence across billions of documents.

• Evolve search infrastructure from a reactive stance to a proactive one, minimize latency, execute a significant platform migration, and develop systems that scale with the growth of the company.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in building and managing distributed systems in a production environment.

• Familiarity with large-scale data platforms or systems that handle high throughput.

• Proficiency in the core principles of distributed systems: sharding, replication, consistency, and partition tolerance.

• Strong skills in performance optimization; capable of profiling, diagnosing, and addressing bottlenecks across the entire stack.

• Experience in data pipeline architecture, real-time processing, or database internals.

• Excellence in creating observable systems with thorough monitoring and alerting capabilities.

• Preferred experience with search platforms (such as Vespa, Elasticsearch, Solr) or comparable large-scale data systems.

• Preferred familiarity with Kubernetes, Custom Resource Definitions (CRDs), and infrastructure as code.

• Background in information retrieval, ranking systems, or recommendation engines is a plus.

• Familiarity with hybrid search techniques (both lexical and vector) is preferred.

• Experience with JVM-based systems and tuning is advantageous.

• Knowledge of contemporary engineering practices from rapidly growing companies is preferred.
