Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Design and enhance the functionality of the ARM64 compute platform, focusing on hypervisor integration and instance management within the Akamai Connected Cloud.

• Develop low-level platform services, resource orchestration tools, and compute APIs utilizing Python, Go, or compiled systems languages.

• Create, implement, review, document, and test high-quality code.

• Collaborate with colleagues and global teams to develop new features or address software bugs.

• Engage in technical design reviews.

• Mentor junior team members on infrastructure initiatives.

• Contribute to the core compute platform infrastructure and APIs that facilitate instance orchestration throughout the Akamai Connected Cloud.

• Collaborate with QEMU, Linux systems, and hardware teams to ensure support for native ARM and x86 compute.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8 years of pertinent experience.

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or an equivalent qualification.

• Experience with the complete software development life cycle, encompassing code reviews, release management, and support.

• Proficiency in software development using Python, Go, C/C++, or Rust.

• Familiarity with cloud compute virtualization technologies (KVM, QEMU), container runtimes, Linux system APIs, or hypervisor integration.

• Experience in web application development, microservices, micro-orchestration, RESTful APIs, and database design patterns.

• Strong debugging, profiling, and troubleshooting skills across distributed Linux systems and database layers.
