Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Improve an application that manages reservations of physical hardware utilized by teams for testing Akamai Cloud initiatives.

• Create a software backend that automates the setup of testing environments for numerous services and engineering teams.

• Contribute to development environments based on virtual machines that perform efficiently and scale according to engineering requirements.

• Detect bottlenecks in development and deployment processes, suggesting enhancements for reliability and performance.

• Offer technical leadership by recommending advancements in coding and design patterns.

• Develop reporting tools to monitor the utilization of virtual machines and physical hardware capacity.

• Work in collaboration with a global team to devise solutions that enhance product shipping speed and confidence.

• Partner with Development and SRE teams to create and maintain essential lab infrastructure services and environments.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of relevant experience.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.

• Proficient in using Python to develop robust backend services, APIs, scalable platform automation, and user-friendly command-line interfaces.

• Demonstrated success in creating resilient test automation frameworks for cloud infrastructure solutions.

• Extensive knowledge of microservices, cloud networking architectures, and relational databases such as MySQL and Postgres.

• Skilled in container orchestration technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.

• Practical experience with Ansible, Terraform, and Grafana for system automation and monitoring.

• Experience in guiding, mentoring, or leading junior engineering personnel.
