Senior Software Engineer, Applied AI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Take full ownership of a clinical AI model in production, encompassing iterations, releases, accuracy, and responses to production incidents.

• Work collaboratively with engineers and clinical team members to create and uphold evaluation systems that validate model accuracy.

• Collaborate with the clinical team on model assessments and requirements gathering.

• Convert clinical guidelines into system functionalities and articulate model outputs to both clinical and product stakeholders.

• Assess and integrate new foundational models, including open-weight options, while balancing accuracy, latency, and cost considerations.

• Serve as the main point of escalation for model-related inquiries and issues from clients or clinicians.

• Oversee runtime inference infrastructure in collaboration with other engineers.

• Engage in Agile sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, code reviews, and design discussions.

• Collaborate with Product, DevOps, InfoSec, and engineering teams to ensure development aligns with business objectives.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 6 years of professional experience in software engineering.

• Proficient in Python for building and maintaining production services and pipelines.

• Proven experience in designing evaluations for AI systems.

• Practical expertise in prompt and context engineering.

• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.

• Experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational database systems.

• Knowledge of event-driven architecture patterns, such as Kafka.

• Strong teamwork skills with a collaborative mindset.

• Demonstrated interest or background in the healthcare sector.

• Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to explain model behavior and limitations to non-technical clinical and product stakeholders.

• Ability to navigate ambiguity effectively.

• A sense of ownership and accountability for production systems.

• A commitment to best practices and a passion for continuous improvement in software engineering and applied AI.
