Senior Software Engineer – Application Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Developing and enhancing features throughout the platform, utilizing Python and Django as the foundational technologies, while adapting to new tools as required by the platform and your responsibilities.

• Creating well-organized, testable, and production-ready code while maintaining a high standard of quality in your work.

• Collaborating with Data Engineering to grasp platform capabilities and ensure effective integration.

• Engaging closely with Product and Design teams during scrum ceremonies, backlog refinement, and technical conversations, contributing your insights beyond just your coding expertise.

• Participating in production support and incident management, diagnosing and resolving issues to maintain the stability and performance of our platform.

• Documenting your work clearly and consistently.

• Assisting in defining and advancing our backend engineering standards, keeping up-to-date with the Python and Django ecosystem, and sharing innovative ideas with the team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in Python and Django (or similar Python web framework experience).

• Strong understanding of REST API design and SQL database modeling.

• Comfortable with relational databases and possess a strong intuition for data modeling.

• Significant experience with AWS, including containerization and serverless technologies.

• Familiarity with message queuing and stream processing.

• Experience with observability and CI/CD tools such as Sentry, Datadog, or CircleCI.

• Proven track record of independently delivering well-designed backend features from start to finish.

• Degree in computing or equivalent experience; we prioritize your accomplishments over your educational background.

• Experience with React and JavaScript/TypeScript.

• Background in working with or alongside data engineering workflows, including tools like Airflow.

• Experience with clinical or healthcare systems.
