Senior Software Engineer, Aggregation & Search

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of and enhance the data ingestion Java service for enriched transfer generation and aggregations.

• Design and optimize PostgreSQL transaction batching, indexing, and replication strategies.

• Assess next-generation technologies via proofs of concept and latency benchmarks.

• Author Architectural Decision Records (ADRs) and contribute to the deployment of next-generation architecture into production.

• Develop and maintain scalable AWS API services capable of handling thousands of requests per second.

• Automate end-to-end network onboarding processes.

• Troubleshoot production issues across microservices.

• Establish service-level objectives and participate in the on-call rotation.

• Integrate LLM-based tools into everyday engineering tasks.

• Create agentic automation for incident triage, self-healing pipelines, and intelligent alerting.

• Collaborate and iterate alongside product and design partners.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience with PostgreSQL in production, covering schema design, query optimization, partitioning, replication, and performance tuning under write-heavy, high-throughput workloads.

• More than 8 years of experience building Java Spring Boot services, including REST APIs, JDBC, connection pooling, and JVM performance profiling.

• Familiarity with Kafka or similar streaming systems, including consumer groups, offset management, and partition lag debugging.

• Proven experience operating distributed systems on AWS, including microservices, multi-silo deployments, and Terraform.

• Strong skills in cross-system debugging, tracing serving delays from Datadog metrics to Humio logs to code paths.

• Comfortable with AI-assisted development and agentic engineering practices.

• Required experience with PostgreSQL, Java Spring, and Kafka.

• Knowledge of AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, Python, GitHub (including GitHub Actions), Datadog, Humio, and PagerDuty is preferred.

• Experience in database migration, Flink, Spark, lakehouse formats, Kubernetes operations, mentoring, and RFCs/ADRs is a plus.
