Senior Software Engineer, AEM, Workfront/Fusion

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of backend workstreams for AEM website and platform projects from initial clarification through implementation, testing, and release.

• Develop plans and estimates for semi-defined issues and lead the delivery process.

• Design AEM authoring interfaces, Touch UI dialogs, Universal Editor content models, components, blocks, Java services, Sling Models, servlets, schedulers, workflows, event handlers, and APIs.

• Implement content structures, templates, permissions, blocks/components, and workflows effectively.

• Integrate AEM with APIs and enterprise systems using REST, GraphQL, and App Builder Apps.

• Implement authentication, validation, retries, timeouts, logging, and failure handling protocols.

• Adhere to OSGi configuration, dependency injection, separation of concerns, error handling, and secure development practices.

• Develop unit and integration tests while contributing to automated test coverage.

• Engage in refinement, implementation, code reviews, UAT support, release preparation, launch, and hypercare processes.

• Diagnose defects and performance issues utilizing logs, metrics, traces, repository inspections, and local reproductions.

• Collaborate with Tech Lead/Principal Software Engineer, CMS Architect, frontend engineers, QA, DevOps, content specialists, and client stakeholders.

• Review code, assist with backend/frontend integration, guide frontend engineers when necessary, communicate with client stakeholders, and maintain documentation.

• Work with Cloud Manager, CI/CD pipelines, Dispatcher configuration, environment variables, secrets, and deployment diagnostics.

• Build practical fluency in AEM as a Cloud Service, AEM Sites and Assets, Edge Delivery Services, and relevant Adobe tools.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in backend or full-stack software development, or equivalent practical experience in building and supporting production systems.

• Professional experience with Java and object-oriented software development methodologies.

• Hands-on experience with AEM backend development and in production AEM projects.

• Experience in configuring Edge Delivery Services, utilizing the Universal Editor, and developing or integrating with Adobe App Builder.

• Proven experience in delivering end-to-end CMS (AEM) websites and participating in CMS (AEM) migration or re-platforming initiatives.

• Working knowledge of Sling, OSGi, JCR/Oak, Sling Models, servlets, HTL integration points, workflows, and Maven.

• Familiarity with REST APIs, JSON, authentication, input validation, and integrations with external services.

• Proficiency with Git, pull requests, automated builds, and testing practices.

• Capability to conduct independent research, read logs, and debug across application, repository, dispatcher, and integration layers.

• Commitment to performance, security, accessibility, and maintainability.

• A collaborative approach with effective communication skills, especially when encountering obstacles.

• Demonstrated experience with AEM Assets (DAM), configuring asset search facets, and managing creative workflows across Creative Cloud for Enterprise and Adobe Express.

• Proven experience with Workfront Fusion for integration and transaction orchestration.

• A solid understanding of the Adobe content supply chain and marketing ecosystem.

• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. through E-Verify/Form I-9.

• Adobe certification, a computer science background, or a relevant portfolio is preferred.

• Experience with AEM Cloud Manager, Dispatcher, headless delivery, Adobe Commerce, App Builder, API Mesh, analytics, marketing platform integrations, GraphQL, event-driven integrations, Docker, CI/CD, observability tools, and GenAI productivity tools is a plus.
