Senior Software Engineer – Add-Ons

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Sweden.

📋 Description

• Implement significant features and architectural enhancements across the Add-ons stack, including automated moderation pipelines, Reviewer tools, and DevHub.

• Set and uphold engineering standards for code reviews, production readiness, runbooks, incident response, on-call procedures, coding standards, and infrastructure as code.

• Develop comprehensive observability systems and data-driven insights.

• Offer constructive feedback to peers, share knowledge, and assist in the growth of others.

• Construct and enhance systems that facilitate secure development, deployment, observation, and management of production services.

• Optimize CI/CD pipelines by utilizing declarative, pipeline-as-code methodologies.

• Deliver work in an iterative manner using a transparent backlog, short feedback loops, retrospectives, and stakeholder demonstrations.

• Produce technical documentation, including design notes, Architecture Decision Records, runbooks, and incident reports.

• Trace requests and asynchronous jobs end-to-end across unfamiliar codebases to comprehend failures and determine areas for improvement.

• Collaborate with designers, product managers, QA, and community contributors.

• Engage in contributions through pull requests, code reviews, and discussions.

• Develop submission processes, trust and safety signals, and modernize DevHub and Reviewer tools.

• Utilize Python/Django, MySQL, React/TypeScript, and asynchronous processing systems.

• Establish internal developer platforms and paved paths.

• Participate in team ceremonies and drive process enhancements.

• Assist in deployments, monitoring, and incident response.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive hands-on experience in building and maintaining production applications using Python/Django.

• Proven experience in operating and enhancing production software systems where reliability and safe delivery are critical.

• Strong proficiency with CI/CD systems and treating pipelines and infrastructure declaratively as code.

• Experience in designing or refining automated testing and deployment workflows, including integration testing and staged or progressive delivery.

• In-depth understanding of observability, encompassing metrics, logging, tracing, service-level objectives, and actionable alerting.

• Experience in developing or sustaining internal tools or platforms utilized by other engineering teams.

• Experience in defining or enhancing engineering practices such as code review standards, operational readiness, runbooks, incident response, on-call expectations, or definitions of done.

• Ability to read and comprehend unfamiliar codebases and track application behavior across frontend, backend, asynchronous jobs, data stores, and infrastructure.

• Experience in debugging complex production issues and translating learnings into sustainable system enhancements.

• Strong technical writing abilities, including design documents, ADRs, runbooks, and incident reports.

• Experience working iteratively with a visible backlog, consistent stakeholder feedback, and retrospectives.

• Excellent collaboration and communication skills in a distributed team setting.

• Willingness to share knowledge and mentor peers in operational and reliability practices.
