Senior Software Engineer, Add-Ons

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• Design and implement significant features and architectural enhancements within the Add-ons stack, which includes automated moderation pipelines, Reviewer tools, and DevHub.

• Establish and uphold engineering standards for code reviews, production readiness, runbooks, incident response, on-call duties, coding conventions, and infrastructure as code.

• Develop comprehensive observability systems and data-driven insights.

• Create and enhance systems that support safe development, deployment, monitoring, and operation of production services.

• Optimize CI/CD pipelines using declarative, pipeline-as-code methodologies.

• Deliver work in an iterative manner through visible backlogs, rapid feedback cycles, retrospectives, and stakeholder presentations.

• Produce technical documentation that includes design notes, Architecture Decision Records, runbooks, and incident reports.

• Trace requests and asynchronous jobs across unfamiliar codebases to diagnose failures and pinpoint areas for improvement.

• Collaborate with designers, product managers, QA, community contributors, engineers, reviewers, developer support, and Add-ons leadership.

• Participate through pull requests, code reviews, and open discussions.

• Engage in submission flows, trust and safety signals, modernization of DevHub and Reviewer tools, internal developer platforms, team process enhancements, engineering standards, deployments, monitoring, and incident response.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive hands-on experience in building and maintaining production applications using Python/Django.

• Experience in operating and enhancing production software systems where reliability and safe delivery are critical.

• Strong expertise in CI/CD systems, declarative pipelines, and infrastructure as code.

• Background in designing or improving automated testing and deployment workflows, including integration testing and staged or progressive delivery.

• In-depth understanding of observability, including metrics, logging, tracing, service-level objectives, and actionable alerting.

• Experience in building or maintaining internal tools or platforms utilized by engineering teams.

• Proficiency in defining or enhancing engineering practices such as code review standards, operational readiness, runbooks, incident response, on-call expectations, or definitions of done.

• Ability to navigate unfamiliar codebases and trace behavior across frontend, backend, asynchronous jobs, data stores, and infrastructure.

• Experience troubleshooting complex production issues and implementing enduring system enhancements.

• Strong technical writing abilities, encompassing design documents, ADRs, runbooks, and incident reports.

• Experience working in an iterative manner with a visible backlog, stakeholder feedback, and retrospectives.

• Excellent collaboration and communication skills in a distributed team setting.

• Willingness to share knowledge and mentor colleagues in operational and reliability practices.
