Senior Software Engineer, Add-Ons

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Netherlands.

📋 Description

• Implement significant features and architectural enhancements throughout the Add-ons stack, which includes automated moderation workflows, Reviewer tools, and DevHub.

• Set and uphold engineering standards for code reviews, production readiness, runbooks, incident response, on-call practices, coding conventions, and infrastructure as code.

• Develop comprehensive observability systems and data-driven insights.

• Offer peer feedback, share expertise, and assist in the growth of others.

• Design and enhance systems for the secure development, deployment, observation, and operation of production services.

• Optimize CI/CD pipelines using declarative, pipeline-as-code methodologies.

• Deliver work in iterations through transparent backlogs, feedback loops, retrospectives, and stakeholder presentations.

• Produce technical documentation, design notes, Architecture Decision Records, runbooks, and incident reports.

• Follow requests and asynchronous tasks across unfamiliar codebases to diagnose failures and identify enhancements.

• Collaborate with designers, product managers, QA, and community contributors.

• Engage through pull requests, code reviews, and discussions.

• Work on submission processes, trust and safety signals, modernization of DevHub and Reviewer tools, internal developer platforms, team processes, engineering standards, deployments, monitoring, and incident response.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive hands-on experience in building and maintaining production applications utilizing Python/Django.

• Background in operating and enhancing production software systems where reliability and safe delivery are essential.

• Strong familiarity with CI/CD systems and the practice of treating pipelines and infrastructure declaratively as code.

• Experience in designing or refining automated testing and deployment workflows, including integration testing and staged or progressive delivery.

• Solid understanding of observability, encompassing metrics, logging, tracing, service-level objectives, and actionable alerting.

• Experience in developing or maintaining internal tools or platforms used by other engineering teams.

• Proven track record in defining or enhancing engineering practices such as code review standards, operational readiness, runbooks, incident response, on-call expectations, or definitions of done.

• Ability to navigate unfamiliar codebases and trace behavior through frontend, backend, asynchronous jobs, data stores, and infrastructure.

• Proficient in debugging complex production issues and translating those insights into lasting system improvements.

• Strong technical writing abilities, including design documents, ADRs, runbooks, and incident reports.

• Experience working iteratively with a visible backlog, incorporating stakeholder feedback, and conducting retrospectives.

• Exceptional collaboration and communication skills within a distributed team setting.

• Eagerness to share knowledge and mentor peers in operational and reliability practices.
