Senior Software Engineer – Add-Ons

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Implement significant features and architectural enhancements across the Add-ons stack, encompassing automated moderation pipelines, Reviewer tools, and DevHub.

• Define and uphold engineering standards for code reviews, production readiness, runbooks, incident response, on-call protocols, coding standards, and infrastructure as code.

• Develop comprehensive observability systems and data-driven insights.

• Offer peer feedback, disseminate knowledge, and support the growth of others.

• Construct and refine systems that facilitate secure development, deployment, monitoring, and operation of production services.

• Enhance CI/CD pipelines through declarative, pipeline-as-code methodologies.

• Deliver work iteratively with a transparent backlog, brief feedback loops, retrospectives, and demonstrations for stakeholders.

• Produce technical documentation, which includes design notes, Architecture Decision Records, runbooks, and incident reports.

• Trace requests and asynchronous tasks end-to-end across unfamiliar codebases to diagnose failures and pinpoint areas for improvement.

• Collaborate with designers, product managers, QA, and community contributors.

• Engage in contributions through pull requests, code reviews, and collaborative discussions.

• Develop submission processes, trust and safety indicators, and modernized DevHub and Reviewer tools.

• Utilize Python/Django, MySQL, React/TypeScript, and asynchronous processing systems.

• Establish internal developer platforms and streamlined pathways.

• Participate in team ceremonies and initiatives for process enhancement.

• Assist with deployments, monitoring, and incident response.


⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive hands-on experience in developing and maintaining production applications using Python/Django.

• Proven experience in operating and enhancing production software systems where reliability and safe delivery are essential.

• Strong expertise with CI/CD systems and managing pipelines and infrastructure declaratively as code.

• Experience in designing or refining automated testing and deployment workflows, including integration testing and staged or progressive delivery.

• Solid understanding of observability, including metrics, logging, tracing, service-level objectives, and actionable alerting.

• Background in building or maintaining internal tools or platforms utilized by other engineering teams.

• Experience in defining or enhancing engineering practices, such as code review standards, operational readiness, runbooks, incident response, on-call expectations, or definitions of done.

• Ability to comprehend and navigate unfamiliar codebases and trace application behavior across frontend, backend, asynchronous jobs, data stores, and infrastructure.

• Experience in debugging complex production issues and translating findings into sustainable system improvements.

• Strong technical writing capabilities, including design documents, ADRs, runbooks, and incident reports.

• Experience working iteratively with a visible backlog, regular stakeholder feedback, and retrospectives.

• Exceptional collaboration and communication skills in a distributed team setting.

• Willingness to share knowledge and mentor peers in operational and reliability practices.
