Senior Software Engineer, Add-Ons

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in France.

📋 Description

• Implement significant features and architectural enhancements within the Add-ons ecosystem, which includes automated moderation pipelines, Reviewer tools, and DevHub.

• Develop and uphold engineering standards related to code reviews, production readiness, runbooks, incident response, on-call procedures, coding standards, and infrastructure as code.

• Design robust observability frameworks and derive insights driven by data.

• Offer constructive feedback to peers, disseminate knowledge, and support the growth of others.

• Construct and enhance systems that facilitate secure development, deployment, monitoring, and management of production services.

• Enhance CI/CD pipelines by applying declarative, pipeline-as-code methodologies.

• Deliver projects iteratively, utilizing a transparent backlog, short feedback loops, retrospectives, and demonstrations for stakeholders.

• Compose technical documentation, including design notes, Architecture Decision Records, runbooks, and incident reports.

• Follow requests and asynchronous jobs throughout unfamiliar codebases to comprehend failures and pinpoint areas for improvement.

• Collaborate with designers, product managers, QA teams, and community contributors.

• Engage in contributions via pull requests, code reviews, and discussions.

• Develop submission workflows, trust and safety signals, and modernize DevHub and Reviewer tools.

• Utilize Python/Django, MySQL, React/TypeScript, and asynchronous processing systems.

• Create internal developer platforms and streamlined processes.

• Participate in team ceremonies and advocate for process enhancements.

• Assist with deployments, monitoring, and incident management.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive hands-on experience in building and maintaining production applications using Python/Django.

• Proven experience in operating and enhancing production software systems where reliability and safe delivery are essential.

• Strong proficiency with CI/CD systems, treating pipelines and infrastructure declaratively as code.

• Experience in designing or refining automated testing and deployment workflows, including integration testing and staged or progressive delivery.

• Solid understanding of observability concepts, including metrics, logging, tracing, service-level objectives, and actionable alerting.

• Experience in constructing or maintaining internal tools or platforms utilized by other engineering teams.

• Proven track record in defining or refining engineering practices such as code review standards, operational preparedness, runbooks, incident response, on-call expectations, or definitions of done.

• Ability to analyze and interpret unfamiliar codebases and trace application behavior across frontend, backend, asynchronous jobs, data storage, and infrastructure.

• Experience in troubleshooting complex production issues and translating insights into sustainable system enhancements.

• Strong technical writing abilities, encompassing design documents, ADRs, runbooks, and incident reports.

• Experience working iteratively with a transparent backlog, consistent stakeholder feedback, and retrospectives.

• Excellent collaboration and communication skills in a distributed team setting.

• Willingness to share expertise and mentor peers in operational and reliability practices.
