Senior Software Development Engineer – Big Data

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design and implement scalable, secure, and observable data pipelines and services.

• Create and enhance data models, storage patterns, and processing frameworks.

• Lead technical design and code review sessions.

• Offer best-practice advice and mentor fellow engineers.

• Collaborate with product teams, analytics, data science, platform engineering, and various company stakeholders.

• Implement and maintain automated testing, monitoring, and alerting systems.

• Assess and integrate big data technologies, tools, and methodologies.

• Document data workflows, interfaces, and operational procedures.

• Develop Zillow's context layer and agentic platform tools, including authentication and APIs.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Over 8 years of experience in software engineering with a focus on data-intensive or distributed systems.

• Proven experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining production data pipelines and platforms.

• Familiarity with modern big data, streaming, and/or cloud-native technologies.

• Experience working collaboratively with product, analytics, and data science teams.

• Practical experience in developing agentic solutions or proficiency with major AI tools and internal platform tools.

• Knowledge of Databricks is an advantage.
