Senior Engineer, Software Packaging, Zscaler

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Develop, maintain, and enhance software packages specifically for Windows client environments within Microsoft on-premises infrastructures.

• Package both complex standard and specialized applications, including those that incorporate additional server or infrastructure components.

• Provision, distribute, and oversee software packages utilizing Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM/SCCM).

• Evaluate vendor installations and create standardized packaging specifications and installation strategies.

• Design and deploy application virtualization solutions using Microsoft App-V, MSIX, or similar technologies.

• Perform installation, functional, integration, and regression testing.

• Investigate and resolve installation, configuration, and deployment challenges within software deployment processes.

• Generate and sustain technical documentation, installation manuals, and packaging and operational concepts.

• Configure and manage software-related settings in Microsoft Active Directory, implementing software distributions and configurations through Group Policies (GPOs).

• Collaborate with application owners, infrastructure teams, and client management to strategize and execute software rollouts.

• Assist in the planning, preparation, and implementation of client operating system and software releases.

• Ensure adherence to quality, security, and compliance standards throughout the software packaging and deployment lifecycle.

• Continuously refine packaging processes and enhance standards and best practices in software distribution and endpoint management.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive expertise in software packaging and application lifecycle management within large enterprise settings.

• Thorough understanding of creating, customizing, and maintaining complex software packages, particularly specialist applications and those with additional server or infrastructure elements.

• Proven experience in creating, distributing, and managing software packages using Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM/SCCM).

• Familiarity with scripting languages for packaging and automation, including PowerShell, Batch, and VBScript.

• In-depth knowledge of application virtualization, especially Microsoft App-V, MSIX, or other comparable virtualization technologies.

• Experience in planning and executing quality assurance activities, functional testing, and acceptance testing for software packages, client operating systems, and application releases.

• Comprehensive understanding of analyzing vendor installations and developing packaging specifications, installation concepts, and technical documentation.

• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory and designing and implementing Group Policies (GPOs) for software configuration and distribution.

• Experience with Windows client operating systems, software deployment, package management, and client management processes.

• Strong analytical capabilities and a structured, quality-oriented approach to work.

• Proficiency in German at a native level or at least C1.

• English language skills at a B1 level.
