Senior Software Development Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Design, construct, and uphold Core Platform Services - Create, develop, and manage highly scalable and resilient microservices that support platform-wide functionalities. Ensure our cloud platform is modular, extensible, and caters to the needs of various product teams.

• Improve System Reliability & Observability - Establish and oversee robust monitoring and alerting systems using Datadog to ensure operational visibility and proactive resolution of issues. Promote best practices for logging, tracing, and monitoring throughout platform services.

• Infrastructure as Code & Cloud Automation - Employ Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform and Terragrunt to automate and enhance cloud infrastructure provisioning and management. Streamline deployment pipelines to boost reliability and developer efficiency.

• Technical Leadership & Cross-Team Collaboration - Offer technical guidance in system design, architecture, and best practices for developing scalable services. Work alongside product managers, engineers, and other teams to synchronize platform capabilities with business requirements. Serve as a bridge among teams to encourage collaboration and ensure seamless integrations.

• Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement - Engage in operational reviews, post-mortems, and reliability initiatives to improve system stability. Develop follow-up actions for incident resolution and consistently strive to enhance system reliability and scalability. Lead efforts to minimize technical debt and boost engineering efficiency through automation and best practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated success in delivering enterprise-ready, cloud-based systems with an emphasis on performance, security, and scalability.

• Strong expertise in one or more programming languages: C#, Go, or Java. Familiarity with API services, distributed systems, and microservice architectures.

• Comprehensive knowledge of AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure with practical experience in designing for scalability, observability, and reliability. Proficiency in Kubernetes (EKS/GKE), Docker, and cloud-native application design.

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, AWS CDK, Terragrunt). Skilled in CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, or Jenkins.

• Practical experience with Datadog, Prometheus, or similar monitoring solutions to promote operational excellence.

• Ability to collaborate effectively across teams, communicate clearly, and align with multiple stakeholders. A strong grasp of customer needs and how technical solutions relate to business goals.

• Previous experience on platform, core, or shared services teams is highly advantageous. Experience in building foundational services that support multiple product lines and teams.
