Senior Software Developer, Financial Risk

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Create and develop fraud detection systems that safeguard clients and Wealthsimple from malicious activities.

• Take charge of the client-facing experience for accounts impacted by fraud restrictions.

• Enhance and build internal tools that assist our operations team in efficiently investigating and resolving fraud cases.

• Design risk-based product features that accurately reflect a client's risk profile.

• Contribute to systems and processes that ensure Wealthsimple remains compliant with anti-money laundering (AML) regulations.

• Collaborate closely with product, design, and operations teams to convert complex risk logic into straightforward experiences.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years of software engineering experience, preferably in a consumer-oriented product setting.

• Strong backend engineering capabilities, with a proven history of developing reliable and scalable systems.

• Experience in fraud detection, financial risk, or other critical technical fields.

• Proficiency across the technology stack; familiarity with Ruby on Rails or Kotlin is a significant advantage.

• Strong software quality standards: you produce testable code, take production ownership seriously, and elevate the standards in code reviews.

• Effective communicator capable of collaborating with non-engineering partners in operations, compliance, and product.

• AI-first approach; you utilize AI tools to speed up development, enhance code quality, and tackle problems more effectively.
