This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and fellow engineers to develop and enhance the APIs, orchestration logic, and data pipelines for our AI agents.
• Take responsibility for the architecture and implementation of highly scalable and dependable backend services that oversee the lifecycle and execution of asynchronous agentic tasks.
• Educate and advocate for scalable and maintainable architectural choices among other engineering teams.
• Continuously enhance our technical stack and processes.
• Over 5 years of experience in software engineering, particularly in building scalable cloud-native systems.
• Strong expertise in microservices architecture.
• In-depth knowledge and practical application of decoupled architecture along with computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
• Proven track record in designing and developing backend systems for AI-driven applications, including integration with Large Language Models (LLMs).
• Extensive understanding of designing and implementing intricate, long-running asynchronous workflows and state management for agentic systems.
• Experience in externalizing APIs and agent capabilities—such as headless API design, MCP server development, or A2A protocol integration—for use by external customers and third-party systems.
• Familiarity with API productization practices: usage metering and quota tracking, versioning strategies, and developer portal tooling (e.g., Apigee, Backstage, or equivalent).
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP), with a preference for GCP experience (BigQuery, Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub).
• Demonstrated experience of 5+ years with Node.js (NestJS Framework, Typescript).
• High proficiency in Typescript (including generics, classes, interfaces, etc.).
• Experience in developing event-driven and asynchronous applications.
• Proven experience with both Relational and NoSQL databases.
• Familiarity with containerization and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.).
• Experience in enabling CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitLab or others.
• Proficient in Unit Testing and the use of mocking frameworks, with a Test First approach to feature development.
• Security-focused mindset, working within security boundaries with tools such as SAST and SCA.
• Experience working in small agile teams across various disciplines, with the ability to lead the agile process regarding ceremonies and story grooming.
• Proficient in utilizing AI tools in daily tasks, such as Claude Code, to assist with coding, documentation, and architecture.
