Senior Software Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, create, and manage backend services and APIs using PHP, Node.js, and React.js within the middle tier.

• Develop and optimize database structures and queries in MySQL, and implement caching solutions with Redis.

• Construct and oversee ETL and data pipelines utilizing Airflow, processing Parquet-formatted data for Redshift and Databricks.

• Create and execute stream processing solutions with Kafka.

• Architect and maintain scalable, high-availability systems deployed on AWS.

• Offer production support and engage in an on-call rotation when necessary.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Product, Data, and QA to convert requirements into technical solutions.

• Write clean, tested, and well-documented code while actively participating in code reviews.

• Utilize AI coding tools (Claude, Cursor, Codex, Gemini, etc.) to expedite development and enhance code quality.

• Mentor fellow engineers on best practices in backend and data engineering.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a relevant technical field, or equivalent hands-on experience.

• Over 8 years of professional software engineering expertise, with a significant emphasis on backend, database, and data processing systems.

• Strong command of PHP, Node.js, and React.js.

• Extensive experience in MySQL database design, optimization, and management.

• Familiarity with Redis for caching and in-memory data structures.

• Practical experience with Kafka for stream processing and event-driven architectures.

• ETL/data pipeline expertise using Airflow and Parquet file formats.

• Experience with AWS cloud infrastructure.

• Proficiency in using AI coding tools (Claude, Cursor, Codex, Gemini, etc.).

• Nice to Have: Experience with Apache Spark, Python, and Databricks.

• Nice to Have: Familiarity with real-time stream processing frameworks.
