Senior Security Engineer, Incident Response

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Act as an essential member of Airbnb's Threat Detection & Response team.

• Develop and implement strategies for detecting, containing, and mitigating threats and incidents.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance Airbnb's security through thorough investigations and root-cause analysis of incidents.

• Analyze security incidents utilizing digital forensics and data analytics.

• Hunt for, detect, and respond to threats using coding, data analytics, and investigative techniques.

• Create automation and detection models for identifying anomalous activities and mitigating threats at scale.

• Search for threats within corporate and production environments.

• Design advanced detection solutions in partnership with engineering teams.

• Perform intricate investigations alongside partner teams.

• Recognize infrastructure gaps and enhance visibility through effective logging and detection.

• Work in conjunction with Legal, Privacy, Engineering, and other cross-functional teams for large-scale responses.

• Provide mentorship to fellow team members.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of practical technical experience in security operations, encompassing investigations, incident response, incident management, digital forensics, threat intelligence, threat hunting, and/or detection engineering.

• Strong proficiency in Python or a similar scripting language.

• Regular use of SQL and Pandas.

• Familiarity with Elasticsearch is preferred.

• Capacity to operate independently with minimal supervision.

• Capability to guide individuals through complex, ambiguous scenarios by influencing rather than exerting authority.

• Ability to remain calm and work collaboratively in high-stress, critical situations.

• Exceptional organizational, prioritization, and multitasking abilities.

• Understanding of the Cyber Kill Chain Framework and MITRE ATT&CK Framework along with their relevance to the threat landscape.

• Experience in automating security detection and response processes.

• Prior experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, and RDS is preferred.
