• Act as a senior scientific and technical advisor to the Program Manager, assisting in the development and implementation of new and existing ARPA‑H R&D programs.
• Perform thorough evaluations of the current scientific and technical landscape in fields such as oncology, diagnostics, and medical device development.
• Identify gaps, risks, and opportunities within research portfolios that align with ARPA‑H mission objectives.
• Monitor and evaluate performer progress against established technical milestones and quantitative performance metrics.
• Critically assess complex scientific, engineering, and technical data using strong logical and analytical reasoning.
• Read, synthesize, and distill extensive information into succinct, executive-ready briefings for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Aid in program execution through documentation, internal reporting, and coordination among multidisciplinary teams.
• Conduct programmatic support tasks, including data collection, analysis, and preparation of internal reports and briefings.
• Function effectively both independently and as part of an integrated team supporting ongoing ARPA‑H initiatives.
• Travel within CONUS (~10–35%) to facilitate program reviews, meetings, and stakeholder engagements.
• At least 8 years of experience in industry, applied research, or medical institutions (e.g., biotechnology, biopharmaceutical, medical device, diagnostics, or advanced technology organizations).
• PhD in biomedical sciences or engineering, with a preference for oncology, cancer biology, biomedical engineering, biochemistry, cell biology, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or related fields.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the capability to articulate abstract or highly technical concepts clearly.
• Proven ability to synthesize extensive volumes of complex information into actionable, decision-ready insights.
• High level of professional curiosity and comfort in fast-paced, high-pressure R&D environments.
• Proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel, including the rapid development of materials during live discussions.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a federal Public Trust.
• Hands-on experience in medical device and/or diagnostic development, including both hardware and/or software components (preferred).
• Knowledge of regulatory considerations in diagnostics or medical devices (preferred).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying complex concepts clearly and effectively (preferred).
• Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex technical information into actionable insights (preferred).
• Experience supporting senior leaders managing large or complex R&D portfolios (preferred).
• Background encompassing both basic and applied research (preferred).
• Prior experience collaborating with government agencies or federally funded R&D programs (preferred).
• Experience connecting scientific discovery, product development, and program execution (preferred).
