Substation Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead and oversee projects to ensure exceptional quality, adherence to timelines, and budgetary targets.

• Guarantee timely project completion by managing and coordinating all associated activities.

• Create and revise design documents, which include one-line diagrams, electrical schematics, and specifications.

• Employ engineering software for tasks such as ground grid design, relay coordination, transformer sizing, load flow analysis, and short circuit evaluations.

• Work in collaboration with clients, project teams, and management to facilitate seamless project implementation.

• Develop and manage project timelines and budgets, promptly addressing any deviations.

• Ensure that all engineering tasks comply with applicable standards (NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, ANSI) and effectively utilize the document management system.

• Recognize potential project challenges and propose solutions.

• Be open to short-term travel as necessitated by project tasks.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution, preferably with a specialization in power systems.

• At least 5 years of experience in high voltage (230kV and above) electrical substation engineering and design.

• In-depth knowledge of high voltage electrical substation components, AC/DC fundamentals, and three-phase power systems.

• Proficient in engineering software for design and analytical tasks.

• Capable of generating and interpreting design documents and drawings essential for project execution.

• Demonstrated ability to manage a technical team and communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.

• Skilled in word processing, spreadsheet, and email applications.

• Familiarity with GIS is an advantage.
